Spiritual Quotes

• God and Bliss are both synonymous terms. Every individual of the word desires bliss alone hence he is a servant of bliss. Thus unknowingly he is a servant of Lord Krishna.

• Devotion (Bhakti Yoga) is the only means to attain LORD KRISHNA (Bliss). This devotion is popularly known as Navadha Bhakti (Nine fold devotion).

• Purification of the mind is possible only through devotional discipline whereafter one attains perfect devotion, and realises Lord Krishna.

• It is impossible to acquire godly qualities of truth, non violence etc, without purification of the mind.

• All spiritual discipline is related to the mind alone. Devotion performed only with sense organs is not spiritual discipline.

• Love and hate in the material world have the same result. Detachment implies a state of indifference.

• Perfection implies seeing Lord Krishna in all beings both movable and immovable.

• Human birth is valuable but at the same time momentary. Hence even a moment’s delay in spiritual discipline can bring about a great loss.

• Perceiving faults in others is the surest proof of one’s own faults.

• Spiritual discipline is only possible under the guidance of a true saint.

Recognized as Jagadguru

At the age of 33, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj entered another phase of his life, by revealing another facet of his personality to the world at large.

Between 1955-1956, he organized several enormous spiritual conventions at Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh and Kanpur in India, attended by hundreds of thousands. He invited many of the greatest scholars and saints of that time to come and address the public. In his turn, Shri Maharaj Ji also spoke.

It was at these conventions that his spiritual genius became evident. The unique charm of his voice, words and personality left the scholars, and the people gathered, spellbound.

In January, 1957, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj received an invitation from Kashi Vidvat Parishad, an organisation comprised of more than 500 of India's foremost scriptural scholars based in Banaras. They had heard of Shri Maharaj Ji's unique brilliance and Divine knowledge and wanted to see for themselves who this personality was.

At their request, Shri Maharaj Ji lectured before them on scriptural philosophy for a period of seven days. In these extraordinary presentations, Shri Maharaj Ji astonished those present by speaking in the ancient language of Vedic Sanskrit.

But more significantly, in these presentations he reconciled the heretofore contradictory philosophies of the previous Jagadgurus, namely Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, Nimbarkacharya, and Madhavacharya, as well as the six great Vedic philosophical systems of India: Poorva Mimansa, Nyay, Vaishesik, Sankhya, Yoga, and Brahma Sutra.

A scholar spends his entire life becoming reasonably knowledgeable in just one of these topics; that Shri Maharaj Ji, who was only 34 years old at that time, was knowledgeable in all of them, and was also able to reveal their previously unknown interrelationships, was beyond their comprehension.

Deeply impressed by Shri Maharaj Ji's depth of understanding, these scholars held a meeting among themselves to discuss the phenomenon they had just experienced. Each felt that Shri Maharaj Ji could only be the greatest of Divine personalities.

They conferred many titles on Maharaj Ji at this time. In recognition of the obvious Divinity of his being, they bestowed on him the title of Bhakti Yog Rasavatar, the supreme descension of Divine love.

In full agreement with one another, all 500 scholars offered him not the title of Jagadguru, but Jagadguru Uttam - the greatest of all Jagadgurus or you can say the Jagadguru of Jagadgurus.

They also gave him the title of Nikhil-darshan Samanvayacharya the reconciler of the entire body of Vedic philosophy. Of all the titles they offered, the last two mentioned had never been given to anyone prior to Shri Maharaj Ji in the whole of Indian history.

Childhood and youth

He spent his childhood in youthful fun, play game and frolicking with his young friends. But at the same time, he would display intense gravity and excel effortlessly in his studies. Then at the age of fourteen, he left the village and attended three Universities, in Kashi, Chitrakoot and Indore. There he covered a whole series of courses in the space of just two-and-a-half years.

Worldwide mission

It is Shree Maharajji's vision that every soul should get a chance to practice Bhakti or devotion in its simplest form, so that the soul may attain its true goal of God-realization. In order to help people around the world in their quest towards this goal, Shree Maharajji began training devotee preachers and sending them to different parts of the globe. He also created a formal organization and began the construction of huge ashrams, to provide facilities for devotees who wished to practically apply the teachings in their lives. This organization is today known as the Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat.

Divine Name by Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj

Remember it that whenever any soul finally believes that Radha Krishn and Their name are one and the same and both have exactly the same Divine virtues and powers, at that very moment the soul becomes God realized; write it down in golden words.

God is so Gracious that He says, “I am omnipresent everywhere, but (O souls) you don’t recognize Me; I am in Golok, but there you cannot come; I am in your heart, but you don’t realize it; for your convenience I have thus kept ‘Myself’ in My ‘name’ and have revealed it in the world.”

Whenever your mind will fully conceive this Divine reality that I am truly and totally in My name, your voice will be choked while taking My name and even once when you will say “Radhey” your whole being will be thrilled with the excessive love your mind will be drowned and your heart will be unceasingly overwhelmed with the felicity of the exhilarating Bliss of the name. Thus there is no delay in God realization and receiving the Divine Grace of your Master (Guru). Trust in these words, and see what your Master and Krishn do for you.

Who is Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj?

Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj (sanskrit: जगदगुरु कृपालु जी महाराज) is a Hindu acharya (आचार्य). He is lovingly called Shree Maharajji by devotees and is the 5th original Jagadguru (मुल जगदगुरु), and the Supreme Acharya (जगदगरुततम) of the present age.

Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj was born in October 1922 in Mangarh Village India , in a highly respected brahmin family. At the age of fourteen, he was sent to Mahu Sanskrit College, Indore to study Sanskrit literature and grammar where it is believed that he mastered all the subjects within two years.

At the age of sixteen he went to the jungles of Chitrakoot, Sharbhang, Mahoba and Jhansi. For around two years he remained at those places. It was during this time that he is believed to have manifested his ecstatic from and absorption in divine love (महाभाव). Around 1940, he came to Vrindavan and started going to houses of devotees for Satsang. He would travel to the houses of various devotees in Agra, Mathura and Allahabad. On requests of devotees he started giving discourse on various aspects of Bhakti and also started Sankirtana.

Apart from Sankirtan, he also started singing leela pad (describing the loving pastimes of Radha and Krishna). In 1942, he came back to Mahu and started holding long, non-stop sankirtan sessions, sometimes stretching to four months. He frequently visited Mandaleshwar and Maheshwar where he would hold fortnight-long sessions.

Being honoured as the Supreme 'Jagadguru' of the present age:
In 1955 Shree Kripaluji Maharaj organized a religious convention in which, prominent spiritual leaders of India gathered. Mahamahopadhyay Giridhar Sharma, President of the Kashi Vidvat Parishad had also come and was impressed by Kripaluji Maharaj's learning and scriptural knowledge. In another convention organized in Kanpur in 1956, Shree Raj Narain, Shat Shastree, the Chief Secretary of the Kashi Vidvat Parishad, happened to hear Kripaluji Maharaj's discourses. It would seem that he was impressed by the discourses, because after returning to Kashi, it is believed that he invited Jagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj to give a spiritual discourse to the scholars of Kashi. Kripaluji Maharaj then went to Kashi in 1957

The congregation had all the scholars of Vanarasi also many from all over the India. They are said to have been impressed by Kripaluji Maharaj's knowledge of all the scriptures ( which include: Vedas, Upanishads, Upvedas, Vedangas, Darshan Shastras, Puranas, Itihas, the philosophies of the other Jagadgurus and the Rasik saints, etc). After speeches which lasted for seven days, the learned scholars of Kashi, requested him to accept the title of Jagadguru. He is thus considered to be the fifth original Jagadguru, the last Jagadgurus being Adi Sankaracharya (509-477 B.C.), Nimbarkacharya (before 600 B.C.), Madhavacharya (13th century) and Ramanujacharya (1017-1137 A.D.).

Discourses of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj are broadcast every day throughout India and Nepal on TV Asia, Aastha TV, Nepal One channel and 'Aaj Tak' news channel, as well as in the USA.

Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj , unlike the previous Jagadgurus chose to write in Hindi as Sanskrit was no longer the common language. His numerous creations include:

Along with spiritual dissemination, a primary stated aim of Jagadguru Kripaluji Parishat (the world wide mission of Jagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj) is the organisation of charitable works including:

1. Hospitals and healthcare of Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat, JKP
2. Regular National eye camps and Mother-child welfare schemes run by the ashrams in Vrindavan and Barsana.
3. Disaster relief including 2001 Gujarat earthquake.

Devoting the Temple to Divine Love

In November of 2005 the temple of Bhakti Mandir was dedicated to the devotion of Radha Krishna. The ceremonies were glorious, replete with the Divine love that permeates everything that the kripalu maharaj touches. In this case, over twenty thousand acolytes arrived via procession eager to consecrate their new home, bathing the building in the waters of the Ganges River.

A succession of ceremonies during the three-day event led up to the ultimate moment of dedication. Hours upon hours the devotees could be heard joyfully chanting, inspired by the occasion. On the final day the sculptures within the temple were named through a sacred ceremony and imbued with the personification of the deities they represent. The name presented to the deities by the Jagadguru? Shree Radha Govind. That evening a huge feast was held, donated lovingly by the Jugadguru, and more than 10,000 were served from various villages in the area. In the final ceremony Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj raised a golden flag with his own sainted hands, a symbol of the beauty of Divine Love to which he is devoted.

absolute Divine love

A Divine breeze permeated the entire brahmand on the Sharat Poornima night of October, 1922, when Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj appeared in Mangarh village (near Allahabad, India) in a most respectable brahman family. From the very first day he delighted the hearts of everyone around him with his sweet smile and serene look.

Sharat Poornima is the famous full moon night of October when Shree Raseshwari Radha Rani revealed the true Vrindaban Bliss about 5,000 years ago that enticed the heart of God Shiv.

Kripaluji Maharaj is lovingly called Maharajji by his devotees. Since childhood his extraordinary virtues were noticed by the people. (As a custom of the family, his elderly people got him married at an early age.) When he was around fourteen years of age he went to Indore to study Sanskrit literature, and, to the amazement of the teachers of that institution, whatever topic he chose to study, he mastered all of them within two years.

Total absorbment in absolute Divine love

He was now around sixteen years of age. He resumed his natural Divine nature, and, at that time, whoever had seen him, would have glimpsed the true from of Radha Krishn love, appearing in its fullest charm of highest ecstatic excitement… Remaining in that state of absolute engrossment, he walked to Chitrakoot and Sharbhang and Graced the deserving souls living there.

Shree Maharajji then moved towards Sharbhang and Graced a devotee of gopi bhao who was deeply longing for Krishn’s vision.

In the same state of Divinely-absorbed-consciousness he moved towards Mahoba and then to Jhansi. People of this world could not see the Divineness of Maharajji’s body, but still they saw the physical expressions of his Bhao.

The pious people who saw him were amazed to see his Bhao state and thus they took the privilege to invite him to their houses. In this way, there were a number of families in whose house he stayed, somewhere a few hours and somewhere a day or two, but he was constantly twenty-four hours in Bhao. Day and night made no difference for him. In those days people used to call him Paramhansji because he was always in an absolute state of Radha Krishna love For about two years he stayed in that state.

Around 1940 he came to Vrindaban. Swooning while he uttered ‘Krishn, Krishn,’ dancing in ecstasy, and loudly laughing in ecstatic excitement, his presence in Vrindaban excited the hearts of the devotees who saw him. News about him spread around and a few devotees with a longing heart came from Mathura to invite him to their house. Shree Maharajji now decided to introduce the true Braj ras to the souls of this world as Radha Rani and Shree Krishn gave about 5,000 years ago and Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji showered the same nectar of Krishn love about 500 years ago. Being always absorbed in the ecstatic states of Radha Bhao, it was hard to communicate with the people. So, for the good of the souls, he subsided his Bhao state to some extent and decided to reveal the leela Bliss of Radha Krishn to the people in general through regular satsang which mainly contained the chanting (sankirtan) of the names, virtues and the leelas of Radha Krishn. He started his satsang in the houses of the devotees in Mathura, and then in Agra and Allahabad, and so on.

Dear friend!

Radha Krishn are everything for you. They are truly yours forever by all means, and you only belong to Them. Don’t think that Krishn is Almighty Supreme God Who is not easily accessible to common souls. He is just yours. Radha Krishn are so kind and loving that They are waiting for you with Their open arms to embrace. Leaving all the worldly attachments just look at Them with full faith and confidence like a small child and They will become yours forever.

Austerity, yog, or vigorous practice of meditation etc., are never required in order to receive Their Grace as They are causelessly merciful by nature. Just have unflinching faith in Them. That’s all you have to do. Your eternally ruined luck will be instantly transformed and you will become Theirs forever. You just give yourself into Their hands and see that They will do everything for you.

(Our scriptures tell that) They have embraced great sinful souls; then why don’t you develop full faith in Them? What are you hesitating for?

Devotional literature

Kripaluji Maharaj has written thousands of inspiring verses revealing the Divine pastimes of Radha Krishna. His style of writing is unique in the entire history of saints: First, he begins the chanting of a pada or kirtan, and as the kirtan progresses, he keeps adding lines to it, bringing it to a consummate close. In glorification of Shree Radha Krishna Devotion, he has named one of his principal creations as "Prem Ras Madira", or "Divine Love Intoxicant". A literal (verbatim) translation of the name of one of the greatest treasures of a devotee is a naïve and futile attempt. One is lost for words to describe the intensity and greatness of the pads and kirtans written by Shree Maharajji. It is only by singing the inebriating kirtans that we can get a glimpse of the unfathomable Divine love that pours out from the heart of a true devotee of Shree Radha Krishna.

The kirtans conducted by Shree Maharajji are famous the world over for the fervent intensity of devotion that they create in the minds and hearts of the sincere follower, forever binding him or her to the path of God-realization. Whenever Shree Maharajji graces the prayer and Sadhana hall, the kirtans reach a feverish pitch as the lord's innumerable names and pastimes are sung in unison by ecstatic voices across the floor. It is a sight to behold and participate in these highly charged kirtans that mesmerize even the most phlegmatic of people, drawing them ever closer to the Shree Radha Krishna.

Scriptural Discourses

After accepting the title of Jagadguru, Kripaluji Maharaj traveled throughout the country for fourteen years. He would deliver month-long discourses in each city, in which he would unravel the mysteries of the scriptures before tens of thousands of people, who would throng the venue for a glimpse of this extraordinary scholar and Saint whose words left them spellbound. Shree Maharajji's lectures tantalize the masses with humor, worldly examples, practical instructions and playful chastisement, much to the delight of the crowd. It was a unique experience as he made the deepest scriptural truths accessible to everyone in the simplest language.

As a cut runs deep, his penetrative words have such Divine power that even an atheist's heart can melt when Shree Maharajji describes the nature of the ultimate and Absolute Truth.

HOW TO FIND GOD

the ultimate goal of a soul is only supreme Divine Bliss, and for attaining that, we are trying constantly, every single moment. But up to now, we haven't received that Bliss. There are only two fields: the field of maya, and the field of God. We have attained a lot in the mayic field, to the extent that we have even become Indra, emperor of the celestial abodes, hundreds of times. You always experience happiness in the world - that of your mother, father, child, wife, husband, wealth. You have experienced these kinds of happiness a lot - but it all amounts to zero. From this world one only gets tension and peacelessness, so it is proven that in the mayic field there is no true happiness anywhere. So where is it? What remains is God's field. It might be there. It's not necessary to apply your intellect a lot to understand this.

For example, two people are together, and you only know their names: Ramesh and Dinesh. If someone were to point out to you, "That one is Dinesh," then you could understand that the other person is Ramesh. Thus, if we were to firmly decide, "There is no happiness in the world," then we could know it is in the Divine field, but we haven't determined this. Instead we think, "This situation with my wife, husband, friend, etc., is no good. Everyone else's wife, husband, friend, etc. is good. We haven't determined that it's the same everywhere, whether it relates to a prime minister's home or Indra's home, everyone is unhappy, sorrowful, peaceless. So how could we find God's Bliss? This is a big question, because if someone tries hard his whole life to earn a million or a billion dollars, he might be successful, he might not. So how does one get unlimited, spiritual happiness, supreme Divine Bliss? We can't visualize God anywhere. There are Deities, but we want to see His actual form so we can ask Him to give us that Bliss.

How does one receive Divine Bliss from God? There are three methods to attain something from someone. You can grab him, tie him up, and forcibly snatch it from him. You can steal it from him. You can humbly beg him for it. Which one will you choose? It's impossible to threaten God and tie him up. There is no one equal to Him; who could be greater than Him? And stealing from Him? He is omnipresent, omniscient. Stealing is only possible when the other person doesn't know you are doing it. Even before you stole, when you were planning to steal, God made a note of your thoughts from inside. So this won't work. The third option is to beg from Him. How? In Sanskrit, English, Hindi, Uriya, Bangla, Punjabi? No, not like that. Ask him like a newborn baby. You people might not remember that when you were an infant, you couldn't speak a single word, nor could you indicate anything, nor did you even recognize your own mother. How did you survive? You had a weapon: you simply cried. When your mother heard your cries, she ran to you, "Why is my baby crying?!" Several months passed like this. We have to get back to this stage of an innocent child who has no strength, no means to help himself, who doesn't even recognize his own mother, who can't demand or ask anything of his mother. What will such a child do? Just cry. God says, "Don't come to me with strength. Become powerless, destitute, without any means, humble." Feel more humble than a blade of grass. Be more tolerant than a tree. Respect all and don’t desire respect for yourself. These are three axioms written by Gaurang Mahaprabhu.

Sanatan Dharm is the universal religion
of the Upnishads, Gita and the
Bhagwatam which Bharatvarsh has
introduced for the whole world.

What is Sanatan Dharm?

The religion which eternally exists in God, which is revealed by God, which describes the names, forms, virtues and the abodes of God, and which reveals the true path of God realization for all the souls is called Sanatan Dharm, the universal religion for the whole world.The word dharm is formed from the root word dhryan (dhryan dharne); it means such actions and such spiritual or religious practices that finally result in all-good for a soul. A general description of dharm is:

It means that such actions, thoughts and practices that promote physical and mental happiness in the world (abhyudaya) and ensure God realization (nishreyas) in the end, are called dharm.

There are two kinds of dharmas: (a) Apar dharm, or varnashram dharm, or seemit dharm, or general dharm, and (b) par dharm or bhagwat dharm.

(a) Apar dharm, or varnashram dharm, or seemit dharm, or general dharm. The word dharm means the religious practices and thoughts that are aimed to fulfill a pious goal in life. Accordingly the apar or varnashram dharm is the religious discipline and injunctions of do’s and don’ts that are explained in the scriptures for uplifting the sattvic qualities of a human being in general. Varnashram word refers to all kinds and classes of people of this world living various orders of life (like a family man, a priest, a monk or a sanyasi), and apar word means ‘secondary’ or ‘general’ or ‘preliminary’ because it is not the absolute or prime dharm, it is the preliminary dharm for everyone in the world.The discipline and rules of apar dharm vary according to the state of the spiritual consciousness of a person, and its rigidness also varies from age to age, that is, from satyug to kaliyug. In short you can understand that (for the existing age) all kinds of good deeds and philanthropic works that are beneficial to the society, and sincere observance of the religious discipline of the ‘order of life’ (religious student, family man, or a renounced person) you are following, come in this category, provided, that they are done with sattvic motivation. Sattvic motivation means having faith in God and then doing all the good karmas only to please God and not for any kind of personal gain. Even if you think of receiving compliments for your good karmas or the religious practices which you observe, it will not be classified as sattvic, it will become rajas, because you desired for the compliments and you have received them. Thus you have already availed the outcome of your so-called good deeds. According to the Gita:

There is hardly any further good outcome of such good looking karmas in the next lifetime.

So, apar dharm means good karmas with sattvic motivation where a person is devoted to God in a conventional manner, which means a general faith in all the forms of God. Such good karmas pacify the mind of the doer in the existing life, and in the next lifetime they create a good destiny which is called ‘abhyudaya’ that brings physical and mental well-being in a person’s life.

करत रहे पवनासन जिन मुनि, विश्वामित्र महान |
काम विवश किय तिनहुँ मेनका, मारि तानि दृगबान |
ऋषि वशिष्ठ कहँ वधन बैठ सोइ, लै कर परशु कृपान |
जब अस मुनि को काम क्रोध अस, दीख परत बलवान |
... तब ‘कृपालु’ का गति औरन की, ताते भजु मन कान्ह ||

भावार्थ- अरे मन ! यह संसार ऐसा है जो किसी को नहीं छोड़ता | विश्वामित्र हवा खा कर ही रहते थे किंतु मेनका अप्सरा ने अपने कटाक्षों से उनको मोहित कर लिया | वे ही विश्वामित्र वशिष्ठ महर्षि को मारने के लिए उन्हीं की कुटी के पीछे नंगी तलवार लिये बैठे हुए थे | जब ऐसे महामुनियों का भी काम, क्रोध ऐसा बलवान है तब ‘श्री कृपालु कहते हैं कि साधारण जन की क्या बात है | इसलिए हे मन ! श्यामसुन्दर की शरण में चला जा |

Swami Mukundananda's Summary

Swami Mukundananda is a renowned spiritual teacher from India, and is the senior disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj. He is the founder of the Yogic system called “Jagadguru Kripaluji Yog (JKYog).”
Swamiji is a unique sanyasi (in the renounced order of life), who has a distinguished technical and management educational background as well. He completed B.Tech. from the world-renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He then did MBA from the equally distinguished Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kolkata. After that, he worked for some time with one of India's topmost industrial houses. However, distinguished material education and a promising corporate career did not quench his thirst for knowing the Absolute Truth. The longing for God was so strong that he renounced his career and travelled throughout India as a sanyasi. His search took him to the lotus feet of his Spiritual Master, Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj (who is lovingly called “Shree Maharajji” by his devotees). Under the guidance of Shree Maharajji, he practiced intense sadhana while residing at the ashram. He also extensively studied the Vedic scriptures, and the Indian and Western systems of philosophy. Upon completion of his studies, his Guru entrusted him with the key task of propagating the ancient knowledge of the Eternal Truth the world over. Krishna the Butter Thief

There he is, my beautiful baby Krishna. Doesn't he look sweet? Sometimes I wonder how such an innocent-looking child could get into so much mischief.
Of course, to some he is not simply a child, but a poweful god, the eighth avatar of Vishnu, in fact. To me though he will always be my little boy.

However, I am not actually Krishna's birth mother. That honor belongs to Queen Devaki, wife of Vasudeva. Krishna was born while the couple were imprisoned by Devaki's evil brother Kamsa, who was determined to kill all of Devaki's children because of a prophecy that said her eighth child would destroy him. To save this avatar from the fate of his elder siblings, Vishnu helped Vasudeva carry the infant from his parents' prison to the home of his foster parents.

I am Yasoda, the wife of Nanda, king of the cowherders, and chosen foster-mother of Krishna.
Raising a god-child was not as easy as it sounds. 'Why, Yasoda,' you might say, 'surely Krishna was a perfectly behaved boy, a model for other children. We would expect nothing less from a god.'
But Krishna did anything but follow expectations.

Before he could walk and talk (which, being a god, he did very early), he was getting into mischief. His favorite question was "why?" or, more often, "why not?" He made no distinction between "no, you may not" and "yes, please do!" Given the amount of trouble he was always in, his motto might have been "Easier to ask forgiveness rather than permission."
One particular instance stands out in my mind.

It was getting to be early afternoon, and being a normal boy with a normal boy's appetite, Krishna was pestering me for a snack. At the moment I was very busy churning butter, and I was at a delicate stage in the process where I could not stop to take care of him. Besides, as I told him, he had had a snack only an hour ago, so he could very well wait for dinner.

The butter churning made me absent-minded, or I would have become suspicious of the good grace with which he accepted the refusal. His usual modus operandi was to throw a temper tantrum. Unfortunately I was so preoccupied that I did not notice the angelic face which he only wears when he is brewing some particular mischief.

Grateful when he sauntered away, I returned to churning, only to be shocked a moment later by a loud commotion coming from the yard. I rushed outside, only to find what I feared: somone had let the young goats out of their pen. They were running wild around the yard, crushing the garden, eating clothes from the line, and generally wreaking havoc. It took me a full hour to catch and return them all to the pen.


Finally, sweaty, tired, and more than a little irritated, I returned to the kitchen...to find Krishna, on the floor, with his hands in the jar of freshly made butter, and a look of contentment on his face!


Not so innocent now, is he?
Well, of all the brazen things to do! After I had deliberately told him "no," too! God or no god, he had to be taught a lesson.
I tied him to a post in the kitchen, where he could watch me clean up the mess he had made. He squirmed and wriggled, but his protests fell on deaf ears. I think the worst part of the punishment was not actually being tied up, but having to smell the tantalizing aromas of the dinner being cooked and not being able to so much as lick a spoon!


Afterwards I was a little awed at my own daring. After all, Krishna is God, naughty or not. But every time I think about that butter...!
And I think a little punishment was good for him. He was beautifully behaved for a full three days, the longest stretch he had ever gone. (He made up for this by making his next misadventure truly spectacular, but my husband and I rejoiced in the peace while it lasted.)
And after all, even gods must learn that they can't always get what they want, don't you think?

Of course, it's impossible to stay angry with Krishna for long. One sunny smile from him and all was forgiven.
For that is the kind of person Krishna is-- stubborn and willful, yes, but so sweet and good-natured that one cannot help but love him.

TogeThey say that it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, and I can tell you from my experience that it is true.


My name is Radha, incarnation of Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu, the most beautiful of the Gopi girls, and lover of Lord Krishna. I've often wondered at what point I fell in love with Krishna, and yet it occurs to me that there was not such point. It's not as though I woke up one day and realized I was in love with him. In fact, the transition from childhood friend to lover was so gradual and subtle that, looking back, I find I cannot remember a time when I did not love him. 



Krishna and I grew up together, and, as his mother Yasoda will tell you, we got into more than our fair share of trouble. He used to provoke me and I would tease him right back. We were a good match because of how we challenged and complemented each other at the same time.

But how can I describe to you our happiness in those days? The smallest things filled out lives with joy...the delights of holding hands as we walked in the fields, the stolen kisses in the arbor, playing and dancing together in the garden.


Together with the other gopis, that is, the cowherders, we danced the raas leela; Krishna played his flute, sang, and instructed us. We all became more pure and closer to His divine goodness by enjoying his company.

If our love seems perfect, that's because it is. You see, the connection between Krishna and me is more than just the bond between close friends and true lovers. Krishna and I are not really two separate people, but rather one and the same person. It is a difficult thing to comprehend, so don't worry if you don't understand it completely, but it goes something like this: Lord Krishna is, of course, all beauty, truth and goodness, and I am a female manifestation of those same qualities. I am not inferior to Him, but His equal in all things, because I am simply another aspect of His divinity. This makes sense if you understand that Krishna is so perfect that only He could love Himself as He deserves to be loved.

Unfortunately, true love does not necessarily lead to a happy ending. Of course being together forever was never our fate, since Krishna's karma led hm to a destiny as a king and conqueror, not a humble life of happiness with a simple gopi girl. We knew this, and so we had to keep our love secret, but it never stopped us. Even when I followed my parents' wishes and married another man, Krishna and I did not end our relationship. We had secret rendezvous in the forests, like the one you see below, where we were aided by my gopi friends.



I have been criticized for continuing my relationship with Krishna. Some have said I violated my marriage promises, calling me an adulteress, or even worse. I appeal to you; my defense is simple. How can anyone be blamed for loving Krishna, the Divine Lover? Loving Him is a way of life, not an affair but a pursuit and love of truth, goodnes, and perfection. If you had known Him as I did, you would understand and not blame me.
In the end, it was not my marriage but his karma that kept us apart. He left our village, found success as a warrior and power as a king, and another woman as a worthy consort.But I have my memories of him, and that is enough for me, as it would be for any woman. I told my story because I want you to remember Him as I knew Him, Krishna the Divine Lover. I trust that I will always be remembered as His first and true love, in his heart and, I hope, in your memories.

udho! man na bhayo das bis
eka huto se gayo syama sanga ko avaradhe isa.
"O uddhava! we have only one mind and that is with shyamsundar(krishna).if we had many mind.then we could have used each one in different direction. and manage both devotion to god and world" but God was aware of fact that if each individual was to be given two mind.no one would able to fulfill the "mamekam shranam braj" ie.surrender to God alone.
to conclude surrender of mind alone to God.whatever the physical action be.now the question is what is the difficulty in surrender of mind?the only difficulty is that the mind has been attached to the material world since time immemorial and the attachment has become very firm.had the mind been nither attached to the world nor to God.then surrender would have been effortless.hence the first step is to detch the mind:this can be achived through an understanding of the reality of the world to god be possible.

To explain the immedicay of instantly loving,maharajji kripalu had this story once there was a beggar who was a realized saint.He want to a house and was met at the door by a servant,"Oh,please give me something to eat and I'll give you a touchstone."The servent was very thought about the touchstone,"I 'll give this this to my boss; what will I do with it?" when his boss come he said,"Sir! Abeggar came for food and gave me this touchstone."the man angrily said," Fool! If he really had a touchstone, would he be begging for food ?" thinking it to be an ordinary stone, he disdanfully threw it. It struck some iron fittings on a window, which immediately turned to gold. the man saw then and woundered," How did those become yellow ? Oh.... it might be a touchstone!"He picked it up and touced it to other places,"This also turned to gold! This to !" Now the man hugged his servant." Hey ! who cares about my job ? Now I have a touchstone ! If I go to an iron factory I can convert everything to gold !" In the beginning ,when he thought the touchstone was just a stone , he threw it away. Now that he discovered its worth, he is lovingly attached to it. He didn't practice gelling, they happened immediately.

My Prayer

When thou commandest me to sing it seems that my heart would break with pride; and I look to thy face, and tears come to my eyes.
All that is harsh and dissonant in my life melts into one sweet harmony---and my adoration spreads wings like a glad bird on its flight across the sea.
I know thou takest pleasure in my singing. I know that only as a singer I come before thy presence.
I touch by the edge of the far-spreading wing of my song thy feet which I could never aspire to reach.
Drunk with the joy of singing I forget myself and call thee friend who art my lord.

Saint Kabir Says...

Kabir yah sansaar hai, jaisaa semal phool.

Din das ke byohaar me, jhoothe rang na bhool

This world is like flower of Semal (red and very attractive flower), which is attractive for few days. Don’t get misled by it. Like a parrot keeps looking and waiting for this flower, thinking that one day it will bear sweet fruit, but when this flower gets fully flourished, the fruits are broken and cotton is spread away, leaving the parrot disappointed.

So is this world; we keep working and guarding our business and relations that one day they will give happiness and satisfaction, but when time comes, they start going their own way leaving us alone and disappointed. Find true happiness, don’t go for this illusion.

Shree Krishna Smiles When...

“When a devotee with all his heart and soul serves Krishna, dresses Him in nice garments and gives Him a flower, Krishna smiles. If you can get Krishna to smile upon you just once, your life's goal is fulfilled.”

It is alone the sentiments and feelings of you with which you can please Shree Krishna and bring a gentle simile on His Face. So, when you meditate on Him from the innermost core of your heart, prostrate your soul to serve Shree Krishna, dress Him in the best attires and offer Him a beautiful flower, Krishna smiles from His inner core of the heart and mind.

If by any means Shree Krishna happens to smile on you just once, your life's goal is fulfilled.”

Bhakti is Sanatan Dharm

Bhakti is devotion to the Supreme form of God with the aim of achieving ever-increasing Bliss of Divine Love. This is called Sanatan Dharm. One special feature of Bhakti is that the effect of the Divine Name, if sincerely practiced, appears as immediate peace of mind even to a worldly person. It is Bhakti or Santan Dharm that helps in bringing about moral and spiritual renaissance in our society. The features of Sanatan Dharm are:

· Ensures unlimited Divine Love to the faithful devotees to God,

· Enlightens the path for a sincere seeker of truth,

Gives mental peace and a relief from mental tension to worldly people, and

·

Removes bad habits and various addictions.
